Effectively Managing Change

CSCPL specialises in implementing change with local or regional communities and organisations such as businesses, schools, government agencies, not for profits and sporting clubs. A key focus of our work is to generate locally defined strategies that allow holistic, sustainable change within an organisation, a community, a region  or a country.

We describe it as bringing together different ways of knowing and doing for mutual benefit through a mutually agreed and developed design. Our clients establish foundations for future prosperity by learning how to adapt quickly and effectively to the impacts of changing external and internal influences and circumstances.

Walk Together evolved originally as a response to the way we felt many non-Indigenous agencies and individuals often felt compelled to make decisions for communities, or do things to them.  This way of operating entrenches dependency with all its symptoms,  consequences and social and financial costs, and offers little hope that anything will change in a hurry.

Many Aboriginal people openly acknowledge that some communities are not in a position to manage their own affairs at this time. But they express the desire to do things with other stakeholders, because:

  • they feel an equal or equitable partnership offers them the chance of a respectful, trusting relationship
  • contributing to decision-making in a meaningful way enables the preservation and protection of important aspects of culture that are essential to their futures as Australians

CSCPL’s change method aims to create:

  • sustainable change
  • done by working “with” people
  • in partnership with all groups that can assist the goals each community strives to achieve.
